The Honorable Angela C. Robinson

In 1998, Judge Angela C. Robinson was appointed to the Connecticut Superior Court.  Her appointment, at the age of 33, made her the youngest Superior Court Judge in Connecticut history.  During her sixteen years on the bench, Judge Robinson has handled criminal, civil, family, juvenile and housing matters, presiding over hundreds of jury and court trials, in courthouses throughout the state, including courts in Bridgeport, Danbury, Derby, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, and New Britain.  In addition, Robinson has resolved through alternate dispute resolution thousands of cases and she has authored well over three hundred written decisions. She is currently the Presiding Judge of the Civil Docket in New Haven, one of the largest and busiest civil dockets in the State of Connecticut.

Judge Robinson began her legal career as a litigation and health-care associate at Wiggin and Dana, in New Haven.  Robinson left Wiggin and Dana to join the Bridgeport plaintiff’s trial law firm, Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder, where she specialized in medical malpractice, premises liability and child abuse cases.  During her years as a plaintiff’s trial attorney, Robinson became a national leader within the plaintiff’s trial bar. In 1991 she was elected to the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, now known as the American Association for Justice, and in subsequent years, she held numerous leadership positions within that organization, including Chairperson of the Women’s Caucus.

Robinson has taught, spoken on or written about many law-related topics, including Attorney Misconduct, Civics, Discovery, Evidence, Jury Selection, the History of Minority Lawyers and Judges, the Legal Profession in Connecticut, and Work-life Balance.  Robinson also donates much of her free time to pubic and charitable organizations.  She is the co-founder and co-organizer of L.A.W. Camp for Teens in New Haven, CT.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Robinson grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. She is an honors graduate of the Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Connecticut.  She earned her Bachelors degree from Rutgers University, Douglass College (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1986, completing her undergraduate education in three and one-half years, and her law degree from the Yale Law School in 1989.

A New Haven resident, Judge Robinson is divorced and has a son who is in middle school.
